Looking ahead to the New Year

FHC China marks the last tradeshow of the year for PS8.  Having returned from Shanghai after a busy week with the UK group at the show, we turn our sights to the final preparation for our jam packed start to 2019.  In January we will be in San Francisco for the excellent Winter Fancy Food Show, followed quickly after, in Germany for the leading sweets and snacks tradeshow, ISM.

The Winter Fancy Food Show is a brilliant platform for companies looking to expand their export business in the West Coast.  The USA is the world’s largest consumer market with 326 million people and retail sales exceeding one trillion dollars. It has a surprisingly young population (32% are under 25) so innovation and ‘new’ products do well in the market, as do British heritage items.  The country has experienced a population shift to the South and West, with the Northeast representing the smallest of the four regions. Winter Fancy Food offers a real opportunity for British companies wanting to get their products seen by the various US distribution channels and we wish all our exhibitors success in attending Winter Fancy Food this January.  See who is exhibiting from the UK here.

One of the UK’s leading food and drink exports is confectionary and chocolate.  It is therefore unsurprising that the UK group stand at ISM is among one of the largest pavilions at the show.  Over 70 UK companies will exhibit this January at ISM.  Common trends this year are ‘low sugar, healthier snacking, vegan and free from products. As world consumers become more ethically minded and increasingly sugar conscious, UK brands are responding to and filling this need.  Sandra Sullivan MBE, Director of PS8 says “The UK pavilion at ISM features an inspiring selection of products that meet new consumer demand including vegan, free from, gluten and reduced sugar products.   The drive for a healthier snack is well served by UK producers at ISM, with innovative, on-trend solutions for retailers and foodservice.  Exports from the UK remain positive, notably in chocolate and sweet biscuits both of which are strongly represented at ISM”.  For the full list of UK exhibitors at ISM, please see here.
